Women Who Stand - Holly Kosten!

September 19-23rd , I will be taking part in a 365-mile bike ride around Maryland with several other women. You might be wondering why I would do such a thing - 365 miles is a long way to go on a bike, even spread over 4-5 days.

The ride was organized by Women Who STAND, a group committed to raising awareness about some of the issues facing women, children, and families in Malawi and Cambodia and to raising funds to support World Relief’s programs in both countries. Our goal for this ride is to raise $25,000 (or more) for families in Malawi and Cambodia, particularly those affected by HIV/AIDS.

The money we raise for Malawi will be used to provide school kits to 350 children who have lost parents to HIV/AIDS and school fee grants to 50 children who otherwise probably wouldn’t be able to continue their educations past elementary school .

In Cambodia, the funds we raise will be used to support an agricultural program that focuses on the moringa tree, which is such a great source of nutrition that it’s been called “the miracle tree.” The funds we raise could provide moringa seedlings and training on how to tend, harvest, and prepare them to as many as 5,000 people!

World Relief is the relief and development arm of the National Association of Evangelicals, which has been active since just after World War II. They currently have offices in thirteen countries, including 24 offices in the U.S. Through programs that range from disaster response to agricultural development to HIV/AIDS prevention and care, World Relief seeks to empower local churches to serve the most vulnerable in their own communities and around the globe, by following the example of Jesus.

Copy and paste the link below to read more about our team and join us in supporting women and children in Malawi and Cambodia....you don't even have to pedal a mile to support this cause!  We appreciate your prayers to safely reach our goal of 365 miles to support 365 days of work.

With love,

Holly Kosten

Snow + Hills =Skiing!!!

Please forward to anyone you think may be interested in joining us...this trip is open to anyone.
Dear All,
Well, are you ready for a SNOW DAY?  The MARCH 1st ski trip is still a “go!”
It has been an unusually mild winter, but there is still some snow to be found at Whitetail.   I was told today the slopes are slushy but still good and almost all the trails are open.  Webcams also look favorable.  It looks to be colder this weekend and they plan on blowing snow the next 4/5 days.  There is no rain forecasted for Mercersburg this next week – and low temps are still well below freezing each day.  As you know I agonized over moving the January trip cause conditions were bad – but I think this one will be worth it.  Please check out the Whitetail website to check conditions;  www.skiwhitetail.com
However, if there is a drastic change in conditions over the next few days, I will make the decision to cancel by Tuesday the 28th.  I will notify you by email.
Prices for Thursday, March 1st:
1.       Lift Only $21.50  (Must bring your own equipment, may go on all trails and lifts open.)
2.      EZ Ski or Board:  $29.00  (includes equipment, lift ticket and optional lesson.  Can only go on beginner and intermediate slopes.)
3.      All MT Ski or Board:  $35.00 (includes equipment, lift ticket and optional lesson.  Can go down all trails and lifts open.)
4.      Helmet rental: $9.00
5.      Meal Ticket - $9.50
**Just so you know….you may switch from skiing/boarding to the other if you’d like; there is a $10 charge to do so.  Also, for those hesitant ones who realize you’re having a great you - you may upgrade ticket from EZ to ALL Mountain anytime during the day by paying the difference.  I can give you more details on either purchase.
PLEASE reply to my email by TUESDAY, Feb 28th if you would like to join us.  Remember, I MUST know whether you would like to SKI or SNOWBOARD, and which package you’d like.
You may pay me when you arrive Thursday morning; just remember if you order a ticket you must pay for it.  If you need to cancel, you MUST let me know before midnight Wednesday night.
I sure hope you’ll be able to come join us!!

Please feel free to email or call if you have any questions.
